DESCRIPTION:

Kayila Luxury safari camp is situated in an 8 000 acre private conservancy outside Lower Zambezi National Park offering guests the opportunity to absorb the beauty of the Zambezi wilderness within a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Kayila luxury safari camp stretches luxuriously along the banks of the Zambezi River and is surrounded by an abundance of African wilderness, spectacular views of the majestically towering escarpment and the tranquil river below and sweeping views across the expansive waterway towards Mana Pools National Park.

Kayila luxury safari camp is a stylish African establishment offering a private and intimate sanctuary of four tented suites which effortlessly combines sophisticated safari tradition with comfort which purposefully blends into the surrounding landscape, stretching out towards the magnificent Zambezi River from an outdoor lounge, sparkling swimming pool and rustic fire-pit.

Each luxury suite is built using sustainably sourced, environmentally friendly materials. The floors and walls are made of mortar, the roof is thatched – an authentically African design that cools the interior space while radiating rustic elegance. All suites all feature two queen-sized beds and a spacious and comfortable lounge area from which the bush scenery can be enjoyed. A mosquito net hangs from each bed, protecting sleeping inhabitants from mosquitoes and other insects. Each bathroom hosts a Victorian bath and a view of the Zambezi River, an opportunity to indulge and relax between exhilarating game drives and bush walks. Our Tips

Kayila has a relaxed and informal feel. The culinary experience features no frills honest great home cooking with some local delicacies on offer.

You are invited to customize the itinerary below according to your personal preferences:

  • 05h30 – An early morning wake-up call just as the sun ascends on the horizon signals the start of a new day.
  • 06h00 – A light continental breakfast is served with fresh tea and coffee in the main area.
  • 06h30 – Morning activity departs into the wilds of the Kayila Private Game Reserve. A qualified guide will guide you through the unique Zambian bush in one of our custom-designed game vehicles. The morning drive spans an unspoiled wilderness where a variety of animals can be witnessed in their natural habitat, including elephants, zebras, lions, leopards and buffaloes. There will be a refreshing coffee/tea stop out in the bush.
  • 11h30 – 12h30 – Lunch is generally served upon your return to camp. This can be followed by a siesta period in which you get to spend some time resting and enjoying the camp. The lounge and main deck areas are the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the Zambezi.
  • 15h30 – Afternoon tea with a sweet surprise from the kitchen.
  • 16h00 – Afternoon activities begin, whether into the game reserve on an evening drive or a boating cruise down the majestic Zambezi River. This is a fantastic time to be on the river to see wildlife as they come down for their last drink of the day. Guests can observe the birds flocking the Zambezi waters, before soaking up the crimson African sunset as it casts a shadow over the river and surrounding landscape.
After dark – Take a night drive and take a glimpse one of Zambia’s elusive nocturnal creatures including genets, civets and bush babies. Each vehicle is equipped with a night-drive light to sweep the bush for sightings of gleaming eyes and creeping shadows.
  • 19h30 – Return to camp to freshen up and relax with a drink around the fire-pit or bar, sharing tales of the day’s experience and sightings.
  • 20h00 – Dinner is served at your convenience, thereafter, you may enjoy a ‘night-cap’ around the fire –pit or retire to your suite to marvel at the starry night sky while listening to the enchanting sounds of the bush.
